How do you brighten our community?
SPHERE brightens our community by unlocking the potential of adults with disabilities, proving that everyone deserves a seat at the table. Through meaningful programs and recreational opportunities, SPHERE empowers individuals to live with greater independence, purpose, and joy. Their work doesn't just change the lives of the people they serve; it enriches all of us. When every member of our community has the chance to contribute, connect, and thrive, we all shine brighter. SPHERE isn't just serving Fairfield County; they're strengthening it, one person at a time.
Who do you serve in our community?
SPHERE serves adults with disabilities across Fairfield County, CT. We work with individuals facing a wide range of physical, intellectual, and developmental challenges, breaking down the barriers of isolation and replacing them with belonging. Through skill-building, meaningful programs, and real social connections, we open doors to a more inclusive community where everyone has a place. Whether someone is joining their first program or building daily living skills, SPHERE meets each person where they are, and walks alongside them toward a fuller, more connected life.
What are you most proud of?
For 40 years, SPHERE has been quietly transforming lives around Ridgefield, and we couldn't be prouder of how far we've come. What began as a once-a-week program for a handful of adults with disabilities has grown into a thriving organization serving over 60 adults every single day.
But the impact doesn't stop there. When someone finds their confidence, builds a new skill, or forges a meaningful friendship, the ripple effect touches everyone who loves them and cheers them on.
Four decades of growth. Countless lives changed. And we're just getting started.
What are some of your future impact goals?
One of our future impact goals is to ensure that children experiencing crisis receive immediate effective intervention and counsel, emergency shelter, medical and psychological care, and connection to support services they require; Furthermore, to provide children the individualized medical, therapeutic, educational and family services necessary to stabilize, heal from trauma and achieve developmental gains; and to maintain a strong community awareness and presence by providing prevention and outreach services that give children, youth, and the adults with whom they interact the information and skills needed to identify and address problems before they are in crisis;

Hillside Food Outreach
We home deliver healthy Nutritious, Medically diet related food to those who cannot, for whatever reason, access local pantries. We also deliver to those who can access pantries, but when they get there, they find that, due to their illness and/or medication, there is nothing they can eat.
