Under the spotlight today: Lyme Connection
An interview with Karen Gaudian, Lyme Connection
How do you brighten our community?
Lyme Connection is a community-based organization, founded by families impacted by tickborne disease. We offer BLAST prevention programming, patient support services and educational events. Run by caring individuals who have directly experienced the impact of tickborne diseases, our organization understands the essential role wellness activities and educational resources play in recovery. We connect people to the fellow patients and professionals who can help make a lonely and complicated experience less daunting. Thousands of patients have turned to us for information and support since the group was created in 2003 as the Town of Ridgefield's Lyme Disease Task Force.
Who do you serve in our community?
While Lyme Connection is based in Ridgefield, we have run programs and supported people from all over the State and beyond. Our patient conferences have been attended by people from as far away as CA., Canada and Europe!
What are you most proud of?
Lyme Connection has faced many struggles and had many successes through the years. I am most proud of the people we have been able to help whether it was through a support group, an educational program, a health fair or a patient conference. Being able to help validate a Lyme patient's struggles, help them find resources and give them hope, was a remarkable gift.

Who are your community partners?
Lyme Connection comes under the Friends of Ridgefield Community Programs Umbrella, has partnered with the Ridgefield Library the RVNA, Founders Hall, Ridgefield Parks & Rec and the Ridgefield Playhouse. We have also been very fortunate to receive grants from Ridgefield Thrift Shop, the Leir Foundation, and the Rotary.
