Community Connections shines a light on local charities whose compassion, service, and dedication strengthen the fabric of our community. By sharing their stories, we hope to inspire others and help the spirit of giving spread throughout our towns.

An interview with Tricia Coe, The Danbury Westerners
How do you brighten our community?
The Danbury Westerners not only offer college baseball players a chance to develop and be noticed by MLB scouts, but we offer family friendly entertainment at a low cost to the community and kids are always free! We appeal to both adults and children alike which is highlighted by our family fun zone which offers supervised crafts and activities for the young ones while parents can enjoy the game. We also invite other charities to our games free of charge so that we can help highlight their causes.
Who do you serve in our community?
The Danbury Westerners serve the greater Danbury area by offering family friendly entertainment to all. We also serve many charities in our area by offering them a chance to highlight their causes at our games. We play at Roger's Park in Danbury which is a city owned field and we have made many improvements to the field itself including fencing and a brand-new scoreboard which can be used by other organizations who use the field.
What are you most proud of?
We are proud of many things, but our community involvement is a top priority along with advancing the potential careers of the college aged baseball players and interns.
What was the spark that started your organization?
What is one of your future impact goals?
How did you change a life?
The Danbury Westerners have impacted many young lives. Not only are the many former Westerners now playing pro baseball, but we have former interns who have gone on to have great careers in professional sports management. Our organization is a great steppingstone for our younger generation's future goals.

Connecticut Women’s Hoops serves adult women (18+) across Fairfield County seeking opportunities to stay active, compete, and connect. Our players include former high school and college athletes, as well as women who simply love the game and want a structured, welcoming environment.
